Abstract

This paper takes Baudrillard’s theory of simulacra and hyperreality as its core framework to analyze White Noise, a classic of postmodern literature by Don DeLillo, aiming to reveal how simulacra permeate and reshape the lifestyle and individual cognition of postmodern society as depicted in the novel. White Noise presents a world of simulacra dominated by symbols, where the real is replaced by simulacra and individuals lose themselves in the carnival of symbols, and in doing so, they forfeit their subjectivity and genuine emotional connections.
