Social Control and Its Effects on the Socialization Process in the City of Kufra
Abstract
Social control is considered an essential need for social life and one of the factors that contribute to the continuity of human existence. Human societies cannot live collectively unless human behavior is subject to social systems that guide individuals' behaviors, regulate human interaction, and strengthen human relations, enabling individuals to live in peace and tranquility, with mutual respect, appreciation, and a sense of security. This research seeks to examine social control and its impact on the process of social upbringing. The researcher relied on the social survey approach, which was applied to a sample of families the Alkufra city in Libya, which amounted to 120 individuals, using the questionnaire tool as a means of collecting data in the research. The research revealed that parents' preferred approach to upbringing is strictness, with the mother identified as the primary caregiver responsible for overseeing children within the family. The findings indicated that the relationship between the sample participants and their children was generally typical, depending on the surrounding circumstances. The research also showed that the participants resort to verbal discipline (such as blaming and reprimanding) when their children exhibit incorrect behavior. Additionally, the results confirmed that the participants allow their children to express their opinions at home and that they are involved in guiding their children's behavior.
