Abstract

This article explores how artificial intelligence powers sustainability initiatives within enterprise resource planning systems for the retail and manufacturing sectors. As sustainability transforms from a peripheral concern to a strategic imperative, organizations face interconnected challenges in energy consumption, resource utilization, and supply chain complexity. AI-enabled solutions address these challenges through intelligent inventory management, sustainable supply chain orchestration, energy optimization, and predictive maintenance in retail environments. In manufacturing contexts, AI applications drive energy efficiency, material optimization, and circular manufacturing approaches. Beyond environmental benefits, these technologies deliver substantial business value through operational cost reduction, enhanced brand reputation, regulatory compliance, and supply chain resilience.
