Abstract

This study aims to highlight the availability of academic and applied programs specializing in the social management of crowds and to set out a vision for an innovative intermediate diploma program based on the integration of disciplines in the social sciences (social work, sociology, and psychology) and applying the relevant knowledge, skills, and values in these disciplines in line with developments in the Saudi labour market and Vision 2030 programs, and to measure the actual demand for this diploma in the labour market. To achieve this, the survey method was used. The sample consisted of (25) curricula for academic and applied programs on crowd management using the document analysis tool. The sample also consisted of (64) faculty members, (15) private sector employers, and (29) administrative managers practicing crowd management to whom the two questionnaire instruments were applied. The results revealed that no academic or applied curricula fit the courses of the proposed Intermediate Diploma Program "Social Management of Crowds", so it could be called as an "innovative diploma". The responses of the sample to the proposed scenario were (high) and the need for a diploma in "Social Management of Crowds" in the labour market was high. The study recommended that the intermediate diploma in "social management of crowds" be introduced in the applied colleges of Saudi universities, especially given the increase in mass events and occasions in Saudi society.
